Tteokbokki (떡볶이)
₩4,000–5,000Chewy rice cakes in thick, sweet-spicy gochujang sauce. The national street food — every market has it, every Korean grew up eating it after school.
Hotteok (호떡)
₩1,500–2,000Crispy pancake with molten sugar, cinnamon, and crushed peanuts inside. Wait 30 seconds before biting. The filling will burn the roof of your mouth.
Eomuk (어묵)
₩1,000/skewerFish cake on a stick in hot anchovy-kelp broth. The broth is free. On a cold day, that paper cup of broth hits different.
Gimbap (김밥)
₩3,000–4,000Rice and vegetables rolled in seaweed. Looks like sushi — it’s not. The rice is sesame oil, not vinegar. Try “mayak gimbap” at Gwangjang Market.

Point at what you want. Hold up fingers for quantity. Say “igeo juseyo” (이거 주세요) — “this one, please.” Bring cash (₩10,000 and ₩5,000 bills). Most traditional market stalls are cash only.
