Mount Daisen is a majestic 1,729-metre volcanic peak in western Tottori Prefecture, the highest mountain in the Chugoku region and one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Its sweeping profile, reminiscent of Mount Fuji when viewed from the west, has earned it the nickname 'Hoki Fuji.' The mountain rewards visitors in every season — spring wildflowers, summer alpine flora, spectacular beech forest autumn colours, and some of western Japan's best ski slopes in winter.

- Buses from Yonago Station run about 5 times daily to Daisenji Temple (approx. 1 hour, 730 yen); loop buses operate on weekends and during peak season.
- The best hiking season is April to November. The round trip to Misen Peak takes about 5.5 hours; the trail is mostly steep stairs, so pacing yourself is key.
- From late November to late April, snow significantly increases difficulty — full winter gear and experience are required.
- Even if you're not hiking, the ancient beech forests and trails around Daisenji Temple are worth exploring for their serene natural beauty.
