Fukuoka Zoo and Botanical Garden is a combined nature attraction in the heart of Fukuoka, home to around 100 animal species and 2,600 plant varieties. The zoo features southern white rhinos, giraffes, red pandas, lions, hippos, and a Penguin Area that opened in January 2022. The botanical garden adds a greenhouse of rare tropical plants, a rose garden, and seasonal flower beds, making it a well-rounded destination for families and nature lovers alike.
- Admission is 600 yen for adults, 300 yen for high school students, and free for junior high school students and younger. Closed on Mondays (or the following weekday if Monday is a holiday).
- Open 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (last entry 4:30 PM). Summer Night Zoo events run on Saturdays from early August to mid-September.
- The zoo is within walking distance of Ohori Park and Fukuoka Castle Ruins — link all three into one itinerary.
- Visit red pandas and penguins right at opening time to catch the animals at their most active.
