A historic pavilion on the shores of Gyeongpo Lake, originally built in 1326. One of the most famous pavilions in Korea, celebrated in countless poems for its view of five moons — in the sky, lake, sea, glass, and a lover's eyes.

Guide
Gyeongpodae is a pavilion perched on a hill west of Gyeongpo Lake. One of the eight great scenic sites of Gwandong, it was first built in 1326. Climb up and two horizons unfold — the lake in front, the sea beyond. That double waterline is unique to this spot on Korea's east coast. Legend says you can see five moons from here: one in the sky, one reflected in the lake, one in the sea, one in your wine cup, and one in the eyes of the person beside you. Visit on a full-moon night and you will understand — moonlight scatters across both lake and ocean at once. The pavilion is small, twenty minutes is enough, but it sits right on the Gyeongpo Lake trail so you will pass it naturally on a walk. Admission is free.
