Hourglass Park(Moraesigye Gongwon)

On December 31, 1999, the world's largest hourglass was erected on Jeongdongjin beach. Sand began falling the moment the first sunrise of the new millennium broke the horizon, and every January 1st since, the glass is flipped again at dawn. You cannot hear each grain drop, but you can watch a full year pass before your eyes. Next door, the Time Museum houses clocks from 19th-century pendulums to modern pieces — every tool humans have used to measure time. Outside, a full-sized steam locomotive sits on display, and a sundial and red phone booth serve as photo spots. It is a place where children can see the concept of time made physical. Badabuchae Trail and Haslla Art World are nearby, making a solid half-day loop.
