One of Korea's best-preserved Confucian schools from the Joseon Dynasty, designated as Treasure No. 214. Features elegant traditional architecture including the Daeseongjeon hall and a 600-year-old ginkgo tree that turns brilliant gold in autumn.

According to historical records, this is the oldest hyanggyo — Confucian school — in Korea. Myeongnyundang, the main lecture hall, was built in 1413. Right next door, Myeongnyun High School still operates under the same name, meaning this single spot has served an educational purpose for over six centuries.
It is also the only hyanggyo that still enshrines the spirit tablets of Joseon sages. Step into the courtyard and you are met by clean wooden architecture and an almost monastic silence. Visitors are rare, making it an ideal place to study the proportions of traditional Korean buildings at your own pace. Arrive early in the morning to catch sunlight sliding down the pillars.
