A 2.6-kilometer walking trail now sits on the old Gangneung rail line, decommissioned twelve years ago. Rusted tracks peek through between sculptures, and signboards bearing words of comfort slow your pace. The street takes its name from a Silla-era legend of the warrior Muwol-rang and Lady Yeonhwa.
The former station waiting room has become a novelty shop full of retro curiosities. On Friday and Saturday evenings, a night market fills the corridor with smoke from grills and the hum of conversation. The same stretch of rail offers two completely different experiences: a meditative daytime walk and a lively night-market crawl.
