259 Jeongdongjin-ri, Gangdong-myeon, Gangneung, Gangwon-do, South Korea
Korea's most famous sunrise beach, right next to Jeongdongjin Station — the train station closest to the sea in the world (Guinness certified). The giant Sundial Sculpture and Sandglass Park are landmarks. New Year's sunrise here is a national tradition. Beaches are uncrowded outside peak summer.
- Take the KTX to Gangneung, then the local train or bus to Jeongdongjin. The overnight train from Seoul arriving at dawn is a classic experience.
- Haslla Art World is a 10-minute walk south — sculpture park with ocean views. 15,000 won entry.
- The beach is small. Combine with Gyeongpo Beach (20 min north) and Anmok Coffee Street for a full Gangneung day trip.
