Kushida Shrine, founded in 757, is the guardian shrine of Hakata, Fukuoka, affectionately called Okushida-san by locals. It serves as the starting point for the annual Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival each July, and a decorated festival float is displayed year-round on the grounds.
