The Mojiko Retro Observation Room sits atop the 31-story Mojiko Retro High Mart building at 103 meters above sea level, designed by renowned architect Kisho Kurokawa. The glass-enclosed room offers a 270-degree panorama of the Kanmon Strait, Shimonoseki Port, and Ganryujima Island, where the legendary duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro took place in 1612. High-powered digital telescopes with up to 100x magnification are available, and the nightscape has been designated as a Night View Heritage of Japan.
- The observation room is inside the High Mart building, a 5-minute walk from JR Mojiko Station.
- On clear days, use the telescopes to spot Akama Jingu Shrine on the Shimonoseki side.
- Visit after 8pm for the best nightscape experience — lights are dimmed for a more romantic atmosphere.
- Café Le Ciel on the same floor lets you enjoy drinks with the panoramic view.
