Noichi Zoological Park in Konan City, Kochi Prefecture, spans approximately 199,000 square meters and is home to around 1,400 animals representing 105 species in naturalistic enclosures. Key zones include the Savanna Zone with giraffes and zebras, a Temperate Forest where three species of otters can be seen together (the only such exhibit in Japan), a Tropical Forest housing chimpanzees and white-handed gibbons, and the multi-story Jungle Museum indoor tropical rainforest exhibit. The rare shoebill bird and free-roaming kangaroos are additional highlights.
- From JR Tosa-Sanyodo Station, it is a 15-minute walk, or take the Konan Bus.
- From Kochi City, the park is about 40 minutes by car — a rental car is convenient.
- The Savanna Zone observation deck offers close-up views of giraffes grazing against the backdrop of Mt. Sanpou.
- The three-species otter exhibit in the Temperate Forest is unique in Japan — visit in the morning when the animals are most active.
