Nokonoshima Island is a small inhabited island with approximately 600 residents in Hakata Bay, Nishi Ward, Fukuoka City, reachable from the mainland by ferry in just 10 minutes. The northern part of the island is home to Nokonoshima Island Park, renowned for its rotating seasonal flower displays — rapeseed blossoms and cherry trees in spring, sunflowers in summer, around 30,000 cosmos in autumn, and approximately 500,000 daffodils in winter. Pottery workshops, camping facilities, and a beach resort add to the island's appeal as a day-trip destination.
- Ferries depart from Meinohama Ferry Terminal approximately every 30 minutes, with the crossing taking about 10 minutes.
- From Hakata or Tenjin, take a Nishitetsu bus to the ferry terminal (about 30 to 45 minutes).
- From the ferry terminal on the island, take a local bus about 10 minutes to reach Nokonoshima Island Park.
- A day trip is perfectly feasible, but staying overnight opens up summer swimming and camping experiences.
