Located within Kozan Park in Yamaguchi City, Rurikoji Temple is celebrated for its five-storied pagoda built in 1442 — a National Treasure ranked alongside those of Horyuji and Daigoji as one of Japan's three finest. The pagoda is illuminated until 10 p.m. and transforms beautifully with each season.
- From JR Yamaguchi Station, take the community bus (~15 min) and alight at Kozan Park Gojunoto-mae, then walk 1 minute.
- Park entry is free; Rurikoji Museum costs ¥200 for adults. Open year-round, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Pour water over the Mizukake Jizo statue — locals believe it grants wishes for health or romance.
- The pagoda is illuminated until 10 p.m., making an evening visit equally rewarding.
