Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in 628. Enter through the massive Kaminarimon gate with its giant red lantern, walk through Nakamise-dori shopping street lined with snack and souvenir stalls, then reach the main hall.
- Try age-manju (fried buns) and ningyo-yaki (doll-shaped cakes) on Nakamise-dori. Around 100 yen each.
- Go early morning to avoid crowds and get clean photos. After 10am it gets packed.
- Worth seeing lit up at night. Shops close but the temple grounds are open 24 hours.
