Shikanoshima is a historic island at the mouth of Hakata Bay, famous as the discovery site of the gold seal — a National Treasure said to have been gifted by a Chinese emperor. Cycling the 12-kilometer perimeter, visiting Shikaumi Shrine, and feasting on fresh turban shell rice bowls are the island's highlights.
