Massive 58-hectare garden right in central Shinjuku with three distinct sections: Japanese traditional, English landscape, and French formal. Cherry blossom season (late March-early April) draws huge crowds. Entry 500 yen. Closed Mondays.
- Bring a picnic — lawns are open for sitting. Alcohol is banned inside the garden.
- The greenhouse has tropical and subtropical plants, free with entry ticket. Worth 15 minutes.
- Three entrances: Shinjuku Gate (closest to JR station), Okido Gate, Sendagaya Gate. Shinjuku Gate has the longest line during sakura season.
