A 160-hectare national park in Tachikawa, 30 minutes from central Tokyo, offering spectacular floral displays in every season — cherry blossoms and tulips in spring, cosmos and maples in autumn. Bicycle rentals, water play areas, barbecue zones, and a Japanese garden make it an ideal family day trip.
- The Nishi-Tachikawa Station entrance is most convenient — about 40 minutes from Shinjuku (¥530).
- The park is enormous; rent a bicycle to see everything comfortably. Budget a full day.
- Weekends get very crowded — visit on weekdays or arrive early for a quieter experience.
- Best times: Flower Festival (late March–May), autumn foliage (mid-November), and winter illuminations.
