Sumida River, Tokyo, Japan
The Sumida River running through eastern Tokyo is the city's main waterway sightseeing route, connecting Asakusa to Odaiba by cruise boat. Futuristic vessels designed by manga legend Leiji Matsumoto — Himiko and Hotaluna — glide past Skytree, the Asahi Beer Hall, and Rainbow Bridge.
- Regular cruises link piers at Asakusa, Hinode, and Odaiba Seaside Park; fares range roughly ¥1,500–¥3,000.
- On the southbound trip from Asakusa, sit on the right (starboard) side for the best Skytree views.
- Evening yakatabune (traditional dining boat) tours are popular — reserve in advance.
- Pair with Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa before boarding, then spend the afternoon in Odaiba after landing.
