Hwahongmun is the north water gate of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, built over seven arched sluice gates where Suwoncheon Stream passes through the fortress walls. The sight of water cascading through the gates during the monsoon season, known as 'Hwahong Gwanchang,' is celebrated as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Suwon. It stands adjacent to Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion, making them convenient to visit together.
