Janganmun is the north gate and main entrance of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the largest fortress gate in Korea, surpassing Seoul's Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) in scale, and features a distinctive double-walled ongseong (barbican) structure. King Jeongjo used this gate as the official entrance during his royal processions to Suwon.
- Visit near sunset for beautiful night illumination of the gate
- The fortress wall path from Janganmun to Hwaseomun is relatively flat and ideal for a walk
- About 15 minutes by bus from Suwon Station; combine with a Hwaseong Haenggung Palace visit
- Free to visit with no admission fee; you can walk through the gate freely
