The original fish market's wholesale moved to Toyosu in 2018, but the outer market stayed and is still packed. Over 400 shops and restaurants along narrow alleys sell fresh sashimi, tamagoyaki, seafood bowls, and street food. Opens early, most shops close by 2pm.
Tips
- Get there by 8-9am for the best experience. After 1pm many stalls start closing.
- Tamagoyaki (rolled egg) at Yamacho or Shouro is a must — eat it fresh off the grill for 100-200 yen.
- Tsukiji Honganji temple is a 2-minute walk away. The architecture looks like an Indian temple, totally unexpected in Tokyo.
