Tteokbokki (떡볶이)

₩4,000–5,000

Chewy rice cakes in thick, sweet-spicy gochujang sauce. The national street food — every market has it, every Korean grew up eating it after school.

Hotteok (호떡)

₩1,500–2,000

Crispy pancake with molten sugar, cinnamon, and crushed peanuts inside. Wait 30 seconds before biting. The filling will burn the roof of your mouth.

Eomuk (어묵)

₩1,000/skewer

Fish cake on a stick in hot anchovy-kelp broth. The broth is free. On a cold day, that paper cup of broth hits different.

Gimbap (김밥)

₩3,000–4,000

Rice and vegetables rolled in seaweed. Looks like sushi — it’s not. The rice is sesame oil, not vinegar. Try “mayak gimbap” at Gwangjang Market.

Twigim (튀김)

₩1,000–2,000/piece

Korean tempura — sweet potato, squid, shrimp, all battered and fried. Point at what you want. Dip in tteokbokki sauce for the cheat code combo.

Tornado Potato (회오리감자)

₩3,000–4,000

Spiral-cut potato on a stick, deep-fried, dusted with cheese or BBQ powder. Instagram bait that actually tastes good.

How to Order

Point at what you want. Hold up fingers for quantity. Say “igeo juseyo” (이거 주세요) — “this one, please.” Bring cash (₩10,000 and ₩5,000 bills). Most traditional market stalls are cash only.
