A Catholic martyrdom shrine within Namhansanseong Fortress in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, where approximately 300 believers were imprisoned and martyred from the Sinyu Persecution (1801) to the Byeongin Persecution (1866). The bodies of martyrs were disposed of through the water gate beside the east gate. Along with Cheonjin-am, it is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites of early Korean Catholicism.
- The shrine is accessible on foot from Namhansanseong East Gate. Check the Mass schedule in advance if you wish to attend a service. A pilgrimage trail connects this site to Cheonjin-am — visiting both in one trip is worthwhile. Use the Namhansanseong public parking lot.
